NAMA PPC To Continue Despite Government Shutdown

Oct. 3, 2013

“We are solidifying final preparations for NAMA’s Public Policy Conference (PPC) in Washington, D.C. and are positioned for success regardless of the government shutdown,” said Eric Dell, NAMA’s senior vice president of government affairs, in a prepared statement. “While we recognize the need to be flexible, we are working toward our agenda as it stands now and anticipate robust and productive meetings.”

“One area of focus for us includes meetings on the significant opportunities that micro markets represent,” he continued. “The growth of micro markets and their expanded offerings of “better for you” choices provide attendees with a positive industry message for Capitol Hill visits, promoting our goals related to health and wellness.”

“Scheduled meetings include, but are not limited to, visits with House and Senate members, including: Congresswoman Candice Miller, Mich.; Congresswoman Jackie Speier, Calif.; Congressman John Lewis, Ga.; Congressman Tom Price, Ga.; Congressman Spencer Bachus, Ala.; Senator Tim Scott, S.C. and Senator Roy Blunt, Mo. These influential leaders are important in expanding NAMA’s advocacy efforts on behalf of the industry,” Dell said.

“The PPC is an ideal opportunity for our industry to build awareness with this critically important group of stakeholders. NAMA is appreciative of the attendees who are devoting their valuable time to help build relationships and increase visibility in Washington, D.C.,” he continued.

Board members, government affairs committee members, and emerging leaders from NAMA will meet with members of Congress representing districts where they live and work. Discussions with Congress members will focus on: health, nutrition and wellness; electronic payment fees; coin and currency and the effects of federal regulatory expansion.
