National Automatic Merchandising Association Executive Development Program To Be Held Oct. 21 To 25, 2012 At Michigan State University

Aug. 2, 2012

The next National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA) Executive Development Program at Michigan State University (MSU) will be held Sunday through Thursday, Oct. 21 to 25, 2012 on the MSU campus in East Lansing, Mich.  It is designed for senior-level leaders who are key decision makers in areas such as finance, marketing, operations and human resources, and is customized to provide an ideal learning experience for suppliers, distributors, brokers, and operators in the vending, foodservice and coffee service industries.

Attendees will hear key industry experts and distinguished faculty from MSU cover topics on leadership, team building, technology, customer service, negotiation strategies, marketing, sales and more. Each participant will develop a personal action plan to help them implement the new ideas when they return home.

The social media strategy session will return this year and will be led by Scott Westerman, associate vice president for alumni relations and executive director at MSU. He will discuss personal branding using social media and how to attract the younger generation to your business as a potential customer or employee. A graduate of MSU, Westerman received his B.A. in telecommunications. He has served as president of the MSUAA national alumni board, and was awarded the MSU College of Communication Arts and Sciences Distinguished Alumnus Award.

Go to and choose the education tab at the top, a downloadable brochure is available.

Editor’s Insight: Take it from a former attendee: the executive development program will build any vending industry executive’s management capabilities. The intensive study course is well worth the cost for any vending industry executive who hopes for a successful future.

Every year, the program organizers update the course. The recent addition of social media strategy is an example of this.

The course forces all attendees to work themselves hard. This is how it instills new skills. 08-02-12 By Elliot Maras
