National Automatic Merchandising Association CEO Carla Balakgie To Help Kick Off OneShow With Special Appearance; Show Set In Las Vegas, April 25 To 27

All registered attendees at the third annual NAMA OneShowSM will experience a kick-off event unlike any other on Wednesday, April 25, beginning at 1 p.m., at the Venetian/Sands in Las Vegas.

All registered attendees at the third annual NAMA OneShowSM will experience a kick-off event unlike any other on Wednesday, April 25, beginning at 1 p.m., at the Venetian/Sands in Las Vegas. This year’s opening ceremony, sponsored by Mars Chocolate North America, will reflect the revitalization of the industry with three exciting, high-energy presentations rolled into one fantastic event.

NAMA’s new chief executive, Carla Balakgie, FASAE, CAE, will make her first industry-wide appearance at the OneShow, following a legion of meetings she is conducting across the country talking with key industry players, and learning about the critical issues facing their businesses today. In addition to sharing her learning experience, Balakgie will lay out her vision for the industry and the association. 

Balakgie will also address the future of the Industry Growth Strategy, preview a new strategy for coffee members, review legislative priorities and initiatives and share other plans for 2012. 

“I believe this is an exciting time for the vending industry, with enormous potential for the future, and I am thrilled to be a part of the industry’s revival,” said Balakgie in a prepared statement.

“I look forward to meeting with many of our members – both operators and suppliers – at the OneShow to discuss their challenges, concerns and successes so that we can work together to ensure continued growth and advancement for our members, their businesses and our association.”  

Also during the opening session, attendees will be treated to a visually dazzling, high-energy, laugh-out-loud performance by the world-renowned Blue Man Group. This show features a mix of comedy, music and multimedia theatrics.  

While the Blue Man Group performance is included with badge registration, a ticket will be required to enter the Blue Man Group Theatre on Wednesday, April 25. Registered show attendees can pick up their tickets at the NAMA OneShow registration area.

Wednesday’s kick-off event will also include with the 2012 NAMA Industry Awards being presented to several exemplary individuals making a positive impact in their communities and the industry. This is the first time these awards have been included in the opening ceremonies. 

Awards will be given out for the following categories:

  • Vending Operator of the Year
  • Coffee Service Operator of the Year
  • Allied Member of the Year-Coffee
  • Allied Member of the Year-Vending
  • Industry Person of the Year

The nomination process is quick and easy, and is still open to NAMA members until Feb. 10, 2012. Nominations can be submitted online at www.NAMAOneShow.org.  

The 2012 NAMA OneShow, which will be held April 25 to 27, 2012 at the Venetian/Sands in Las Vegas.
