Leanpath, a food waste management technology provider, announced it has surpassed its pledge to prevent 50 million meals from going to waste by the end of 2025, hitting more than 65 million meals saved in the past two years. The milestone was announced during Climate Week.

The company joined the global 123 Pledge in 2022, which supports the United Nations’ goal to cut food waste in half by 2030. Its early achievement reflects the increasing adoption of food waste tracking and prevention tools across the food service and hospitality sectors.

Leanpath’s platform is used in more than 4,000 kitchens worldwide, including those operated by Sodexo, Aramark, Compass and Google. By measuring and managing food waste, the system helps food service operators reduce disposal costs, minimize purchasing waste and demonstrate their sustainability commitments to clients.

“This achievement isn’t just a number; it represents a significant step forward in our collective fight against food waste and climate change,” Leanpath CEO Andrew Shakman said in the announcement. “Our clients prove every day that with the right tools, food waste is a solvable problem that can deliver both financial and environmental benefits.”

For operators, the benefits extend beyond environmental impact. Leanpath says its technology can improve kitchen efficiency, lower food costs and strengthen customer relationships by aligning with clients' sustainability goals — a growing priority in sectors from corporate dining to healthcare.

The company also launched the Leanpath 12.3 Initiative to expand food waste prevention programs to schools and nonprofit organizations with limited resources, further broadening the potential reach of its tools.
