Tyson To Close Two Midwest Facilities, Displacing 880 Employees

Nov. 24, 2015

Tyson Foods, Inc. has announced it will be closing its Jefferson, WI, and Chicago, IL, plants, according to the NBC15 News. The closings will affect an estimated 880 people, 480 at the Chicago facility and 400 at the Jefferson pepperoni plant. The closures are reportedly due to a combination of factors including an evolving product need as well as the age of the facilities making them expensive to update.

The two plants are expected to cease operations during the second half of the company's fiscal year, which ends Oct. 1, 2016.
