Vending Repair Program Names Davis Haines Instructor

Sept. 17, 2013

Davis Haines has started as the new instructor of the Vending Program at Randolph Technical High in Philadelphia, Pa., announced Bud Burke, senior account executive at Thayer Distribution in Gibbstown, N.J. and the program chairman. After a deliberate and long hiring process, Haines was named to the position in late August.

A Marine Corp. veteran, Haines was most recently employed by MidLantic Vending in Moorestown, N.J., where he was the service manager. One of his most recent accomplishments was overseeing the implementation of the Cantaloupe Seed system at MidLantic. Among his many attributes is an extensive computer background.

“I know you all join me in welcoming Davis, and I have already told him that this group will support him in any way possible,” said Burke in a prepared statement. “Through the generosity of the NAMA Foundation, we are able to have Jim Clark spend some time with Davis to help make him feel at home with his new position. Jim has already spent several days at Randolph.”

Burke called hiring a new instructor overcoming a “tremendous obstacle to the future of this program;” but he warns that the program itself needs to be reviewed. “Our industry has changed dramatically in the past 5 years and there are no signs of that change slowing down,” he said. “In my conversations with NAMA, any new materials developed will be for an on-line application. I believe if we all work together that not only can we upgrade the program at Randolph, but we can help to upgrade training for our entire industry.”
