NAMA senior team members Carla Balakgie, Dan Mathews and Sheree Edwards participated in the Michigan Distributors & Vendors Association (MDVA) 2013 Annual Convention August 1 to 4 at the historic Boyne Mountain Resort in Boyne Falls, Mich.
MDVA, representing two significant business segments in the state of Michigan including wholesale distributors of grocery/convenience products and vending machine and food service operators, hosts the event featuring more than 220 attendees, including MDVA members, their families and Michigan state legislators.
The legislative meeting featured remarks from: Senators Dave Hildenbrand, R-Lowell, and John Hune, R-Hamburg; Representatives Frank Foster, R-Pellston; Robert Kosowski, D-Westland; Lisa Posthumus-Lyons, R-Alto; Aric Nesbitt, R-Lawton; Earl Poleski, R-Spring Arbor Township; Wayne Schmidt, R-Traverse City; Robert VanHerlen, R-Walker; and John Walsh, R-Livonia. NAMA President and CEO Carla Balakgie provided an industry update and presentation on NAMA’s strategic plan.
“NAMA was honored once again to participate in this convention. Our MDVA colleagues do an incredible job of representing the industry and its members who work hard to operate their businesses and give back to local economies,” said Eric Dell, NAMA senior vice president of government affairs, in a prepared statement.
“MDVA’s outstanding reputation is reflected by the number of legislators who support this event year after year because they recognize the value MDVA’s members contribute to the state of Michigan in the form of jobs, industry, and growth,” he continued.
“We want to always support MDVA because it is an organization working year-round to set the standard for our industry. Michigan’s legislators are familiar with our members, issues and industry as a result of ongoing outreach and valued influence. NAMA appreciates the opportunity to share in that,” he added.
