Doctor And Senator Attack Soda Tax Exemption In Nebraska

Lincoln, Neb. physician Bob Rauner and Sen. Bill Avery are trying to eliminate the sales tax exemption given for soft drinks, according to the Lincoln Journal Star. Rauner wants to use the money to fund a statewide school wellness program to counter obesity. Sen. Bill Avery, who plans to support the "Nebraska Healthy Kids Act" measure doesn't believe the tax exemption for soda is logical or defensible. Full article.
