July 22, 2014

Mayors around the country and business council members will be able to appreciate reverse vending machines with augmented reality technology during the upcoming U.S. Conference of Mayors’ Business Council in Baltimore, Md. meeting, June 17 to 21, 2011. The machines were developed by Recyclable Planet with technological cooperation of German companies Trautwein SB Technik and metaio.

The machines will be shown at the U.S. Conference of Mayors’ Business Council Baltimore, Md. meeting, June 17 to 21, 2011.

"This initiative shows how we can integrate cutting edge technologies, social media, and smart phone's applications with our reverse vending machines. Our main goal is to generate front end recycling awareness. Our company is committed to create new educational and motivational platforms that will encourage people to make recycling part of their normal daily behavior," said Carlos Cuevas, Recyclable Planet's founder and CEO in a prepared statement.

Recyclable Planet's reverse vending machines are collection systems that accept aluminum cans and / or plastic bottles. Participants are rewarded for using them in different ways. "We could develop unlimited number of creative recycling programs around them. These machines enhance recycling awareness and are the only ones with high quality HD digital signage. They could be placed in schools, universities, shopping centers, airports, parks, sport venues, residential buildings, office buildings, and especially in supermarkets and retail stores."

"We are looking forward to discuss the importance of increasing global recycling rates through innovation, collaboration and consumer education with U.S. Mayors and Business Council Members," Cuevas added.

"AR technology is perfect for getting customers interested, involved and educated in an easy way. We are very happy to support Recyclable Planet's efforts for a more responsible and sustainable way of dealing with resources," said Thomas Alt, metaio's CEO.
