The International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) announced that Dennis Carpenter has joined IBWA as manager of membership services. His responsibilities include membership recruitment and retention as well as membership department administrative tasks including invoicing and reporting.
Carpenter came to IBWA after serving manager, membership operations for the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA), Inc. in Greenbelt, Md. In this role, Carpenter brought out-sourced membership operations in-house from third-party membership services vendors, resulting in substantial annual savings to the association. Before NABA, Carpenter worked as membership manager for SRA International in Arlington, Va., where he successfully increased membership by 72 percent within three years and developed additional revenue streams by planning national networking events.
He also served as registration specialist for "NeighborWorks" in Washington, D.C. where he assisted in the development of a new, enhanced database for member servicing and meeting registration.
As a volunteer, he has also been a committed mentor to at-risk male youth within the foster care system for 8 years. His successes as a mentor include mentoring over 20 youth, many of whom have been adopted, placed with permanent families, and reunited with their biological families.
Carpenter is a graduate of the Ashford University in Clinton, Ia. with B.A. in psychology. He has been a member of American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) since 2004. He can be reached by phone at 703.647.4615 or by email at [email protected].
