Indiana Hospital Installs Healthy Vending Machine

Aug. 25, 2015

Major Hospital, located in Shelbyville, IN, now joins a list of Shelbyville organizations offering healthy vending. Last month the hospital installed a healthy vending machine with products ranging from Kind bars to organic chocolate milk, ShelbyNews reports.

Mark Weil, chef at the hospital café, told the news source that the healthy vending machine has been successful, taking about 20 percent of sales from traditional snacks in the first month. The hospital has taken several initiatives to increase use of the healthy vending machine, such as placing it next to an ATM for convenience and looking to add some showcase lights to brighten it up.

The Shelby County Library and the Shelby County Athletic Club have also installed healthy vending machines as part of a health and wellness initiative.
