ColdSnap, a Massachusetts-based food technology company known for its on-demand frozen treat machines, has secured a national distribution deal with Foodbuy, the procurement division of Compass Group USA. The agreement positions ColdSnap’s rapid-freezing sweets and snack technology within Foodbuy’s extensive client network, which spans hospitality, healthcare, education and corporate foodservice.

ColdSnap’s countertop unit freezes single-serve pods of ice cream, smoothies, protein shakes, frozen coffee drinks and seasonal specialties in about two minutes. Because each product is mixed and frozen entirely inside its sealed pod, the machine does not require cleaning, plumbing or water lines, and the shelf-stable pods do not need refrigeration.

For operators, the plug-and-play format and minimal labor needs make the system a potential fit for micro markets, vending locations, office pantries and other unattended retail formats. The partnership gives ColdSnap access to Foodbuy’s nationwide buying power, estimated at $30 billion in annual managed spend, opening doors to high volume foodservice operations across the country.

Matthew Fonte, president of ColdSnap, said the collaboration is an opportunity to reach thousands of operators seeking frozen options that balance convenience, food safety and profitability.
