Missfresh installs smart vending machines at Beijing's Winter Olympics

Feb. 14, 2022

Missfresh Ltd. which calls itself a pioneer in China's neighborhood retail industry, is providing express food delivery and smart vending machines to support staff stationed in Taizicheng Snow Town, Zhangjiakou, the main zone of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics in Hebei Province.

Missfresh said it rolled out unattended services in Taizicheng after more than three months of preparatory work. The equipment leverages the company's retail cloud system. The mini online shopping platform offers round-the-clock express delivery to serve personnel working the Winter Olympics in Taizicheng Snow Town.

Called Convenience Go, the company's smart vending machines are installed in 109 locations across the Winter Olympics support area, including Guobin Mountain Villa, the InterContinental Chongli Hotel and the Medal Plaza.

The machines require customers to scan a QR code or use facial recognition to collect their purchases and automatically complete payment. Contactless shopping and payment are essential amid the COVID-19 pandemic as they represent a safer and more convenient retail model that also allows for social distancing.

At the Games, Missfresh is offering more than 350 SKUs through its delivery and vending solution.
