Nestle To Source More Coffee From China

Nov. 28, 2016

Nestle will reportedly buy 13,500 tonnes of coffee beans from south China’s Yunnan Province this year according to Global Times. The move comes as the company seeks to develop ties with the coffee-growing region. Yunnan Province accounts for more than 99 percent of the country’s coffee plantations and production, the source reports.

Nestle opened its first coffee center in Pu’er Yunnan in March in order to train local farmers and increase coffee consumption. Vice president of Nestle China, Dong Yuguo, noted that the company is going to increase its presence in China in order to “make the most of the country’s huge market potential,” the source reports.
