Cameron's Coffee Introduces Filtered Single Serve Coffee To Help Coffee Drinkers Escape The Burnt-Plastic Aftertaste Of Regular Single Serve Coffee

Dec. 16, 2014

MINNEAPOLIS, Dec. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Cameron's Coffee has introduced a new Filtered Single Serve coffee brewed through a filter, not a plastic cup, so coffee drinkers across the country can enjoy conveniently brewed coffee with less plastic waste and no fear of burnt-plastic aftertaste. In celebration of the launch, Cameron's invites fans to share plastic-cup-crushing videos or photos on Twitter with the hashtag #CrushTheCups or uploaded to the website to taste the new product for free.

In conjunction with the Filtered Single Serve coffee launch and the #CrushtheCups campaign, Cameron's fielded a national survey that found eight in 10 (80%) coffee drinkers have concerns about traditional single serve coffee. Plastic taste (51%) and wastefulness (45%) topped the list of worries among this group.

"More roasting and brewing methods are available than ever before, but most coffee lovers don't know how to ensure quality in every way," said Allison Murn, Vice President of Marketing at Cameron's Coffee. "With Cameron's new Filtered Single Serve coffee, you can feel good about brewing a great-tasting single cup without compromising flavor or convenience."

The survey examined the tastes and preferences of American coffee drinkers. Though 84 percent describe themselves as environmentally friendly and 87 percent would not consider themselves to be wasteful, more than half (53%) of at-home brewers today use single-cup machines. With Cameron's new BPA-free and polystyrene-free soft-bottom mesh Filtered Single Serve coffee there is less plastic waste than the common plastic single serve coffee cup.

The survey also found that a minority—only 25 percent—of coffee drinkers are aware that hot water can make plastic single serve coffees more dangerous for the drinker.

Other key survey findings include:

  • 95 percent of coffee drinkers would give up their favorite coffee brand or shop forever if it meant they'd never experience the flavor of plastic.
  • More than a third (34%) of coffee drinkers say that their first cup of coffee each day is one of the things they'd be willing to sacrifice if they'd never have to taste plastic coffee again.
