Oregon Bill To Add 5 Cent Tax On Coffee Unlikely To Move Forward

House Bill 2875 recently proposed in the Oregon Legislature, would impose a tax of five cents per pound on wholesale coffee, but government officials say it is unlikely to pass, reports KOIN 6. In the bill, revenue from the tax is slated for an Alternative Education Sustainability Fund that would include National Guard education programs.
The bill is sponsored by the Oregon House Committee on Revenue, according to the source. However, the chair of the Committee on Revenue is reported as saying that the bill is unlikely to move forward.
