Temple Lifestyle Brands, parent company of Thirsty Buddha, has acquired Rise Kombucha. Growing consumer demand for functional, better-for-you beverages presents opportunities that convenience services operators can leverage in micro markets and breakrooms.
Temple Lifestyle Brands, parent company of Thirsty Buddha coconut water, has acquired Rise Kombucha, one of Canada’s leading functional beverage brands. The move brings together two health-focused companies at a time when kombucha and other better-for-you drinks are gaining traction across retail and convenience channels.
Rise, founded in Montreal in 2008, is known for its organic, unpasteurized kombucha brewed with a focus on gut health, sustainability, and bold flavors. The brand’s products are available via Canadian retailers, including channels that overlap with vending and micro markets.

Functional beverages remain one of the fastest-growing segments in the drinks category. Grand View Research projects the Canadian functional drinks market to grow at 9.4% annually, reaching nearly USD 7.9 billion by 2030. That growth reflects increasing consumer demand for beverages that deliver refreshment and health benefits.
“Bringing Rise into our family is more than an acquisition; it’s a powerful step forward in our mission to revolutionize better-for-you beverages,” said Christopher Magnone, co-founder and CEO of Temple Lifestyle Brands, in a release.
