McDonald's Tests Specialty Coffee In Northern California Market

March 15, 2017

McDonald's restaurants in the Sacramento, Stockton, and Modesto area California are the first to test three new McCafé beverages that include a hot and iced Caramel Macchiato, French Vanilla Cappuccino and Americano (available in small, medium, and large sizes).

The Caramel Macchiato, French Vanilla Cappuccino, and Americano McCafé beverages are made with freshly ground, sustainably sourced espresso beans from Rainforest Alliance Certified™ farms. Customers can order their beverage with the choice of whole or nonfat milk. McDonald's will offer promotional pricing for the first week of the launch.

Full release.

Editor's note: Today's consumer wants more than black coffee, or even coffee with cream, but a specialty beverage that can be customized. It's so popular, fast food restaurants are dabbling in specialty beverages and becoming yet another competitor to OCS. Operators need to make sure they can offer a line of specialty beverages to locations in order to compete.
