Nielsen: Water, Energy, Sports Drinks Thrive While Soda Volume Continues To Struggle

The carbonated soft drink industry continues to decline despite price hikes, according to Bevnet. In fact, the carbonated soft drink category saw volume fall by 2.7 percent despite a dollar sales growth of 1.5 percent. Meanwhile, dollar sales of energy drinks were up 11.2 percent, the source reports. Bottled water dollar sales also increased by 7 percent while sports drinks posted a 6.5 percent increase in dollar sales.
