PepsiCo To Display Vending Machine Prototype At OneShow

April 19, 2013

PepsiCo has a new prototype of its Pepsi Interactive Vending Machine using Kinect for Windows motion-sensing technology. The unit will be on display at the NAMA OneShow in Las Vegas, Nev. from April 24 to 26.

“We’re always looking for new, innovative ways to engage consumers in our brands and we’re excited to continue exploring Kinect for Windows’ motion-sensing technology for our vending equipment,” said Christine Sisler, vice president, equipment innovation for PepsiCo Americas Beverages. “This project is in a conceptual phase right now and we’re looking forward to learning more.”

The Pepsi Interactive Vending machine powered by Kinect for Windows responds to movement and turns the engaged user into an avatar - allowing consumers to interact naturally and touch-free with the machine, according to the company. Users can buy or play games with PepsiCo beverages by interacting with the Kinect for Windows technology and also record a video to post directly on the unit for viewing by other consumers.

Product nutritional information and videos are available for on-demand viewing at the unit and users can also charge their mobile device at the machine while enjoying a PepsiCo beverage.
