Massachusetts Turnpike Service Plaza Gets First Healthy Vending Machine

April 29, 2015

A healthy vending machine has been installed at the Westborough Service Plaza (I-90) Westbound on the Massachusetts Turnpike, The Boston Globe reports. The machine, provided by Berkshire Natural, carries foods with no high-fructose corn syrup, no trans fat and no artificial flavors or colors. Many products in the machine are sourced from New England companies.

Illinois lawmakers pushed earlier this year for the addition of healthy snack items in vending machines at rest stops along state highways. Similarly, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced a partnership that with several New York organizations to sell food sourced from New York in the state’s rest stop vending machines.
