San Francisco Legislator Proposes Two Cents Per Ounce Soda Tax

San Francisco, Calif. Supervisor Scott Wiener announced the proposal of a tax on soda and sugar-sweetened beverages, according to the Huffington Post. The legislation would allow a two-cents-per-ounce tax, increasing the cost of a can of soda by 24 cents. Wiener suggests the tax could create $31 million annually to fund recreation and nutrition programs. Full article.
