Dunkin' Brands Appoints New Vice Presidents

Dunkin' Brands Group, Inc., the parent company of Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins, announced the appointments of Maryanne Knott as vice president of tax, and Susan Scherer as regional vice president of the South Central region.

As vice president of tax, Maryanne Knott will hold responsibility for Dunkin' Brands' foreign, Federal, state and local tax strategies. She will report to Paul Carbone, chief financial officer for Dunkin' Brands. Knott joins Dunkin' Brands from Deloitte Tax LLP of Boston, where she served for more than 12 years in a number of roles, most recently as director. She led engagement teams for public and closely-held companies in the retail, consumer products and telecommunications industries. Her experience also includes positions with Neiman Marcus, The Stop & Shop Companies, and Price Waterhouse. Knott is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Massachusetts, and she holds a JD from Suffolk University School of Law and a BSBA in Accounting from Providence College.

Susan Scherer will serve as regional vice president of the South Central region, providing support to Dunkin' Brands' franchisees and field teams throughout the South Central United States. She will report to Weldon Spangler, vice president, Dunkin' Donuts Operations U.S. and Canada. Scherer's experience includes more than 25 years in or related to the food service industry, including positions as president / co-owner of Gasket Guy and Gal, Inc., the country's largest installer of commercial replacement gaskets in restaurants and grocery / convenience stores, and as division vice president, Papa John's International. She earned a BS in hotel, restaurant and institutional management from Pennsylvania State University.

In addition to the appointments of Knott and Scherer, Dunkin' Brands announced two promotions within the company. Weldon Spangler has been promoted to vice president, Dunkin' Donuts Operations U.S. and Canada. In this new role, he will lead Dunkin' Donuts' field operations team and will continue to report to Paul Twohig, senior vice president and chief operating officer, Dunkin' Donuts U.S. and Canada. Jesse Schlueter has been promoted to vice president, global learning. Under her direction, Dunkin' Brands' Global Learning Team will develop new ways to deliver innovative learning programs for company franchisees, restaurant managers and field employees.
