The National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA) has created a new position, director of marketing and public relations, to lead the marketing and communications activities and strategic development of the association and its Industry Growth Strategy (IGS), Joann DeNardis, PHR, NAMA associate director of OneShow and member services PHR, announced.

"We are looking for an individual who will work closely with senior management to define revenue, forecast objectives and plan marketing and communications strategies and budgets," said DeNardis in a prepared statement. The director of marketing and public relations will provide leadership and coordination of all communications of the association's industry growth strategy (IGS) to ensure development and timeline compliance. Marketing for the association is also included such as public and media relations, membership and other association communications.

At the recent OneShow in Chicago, NAMA unveiled IGS, a striking new plan to appeal to Generation Y and drive consumers of all ages to use and prefer vending. The IGS is based on compelling new research conducted by NAMA that revealed more than 80 percent of consumers view vending favorably, despite the industry's increasingly prevalent belief otherwise. In particular, Generation Y (consumers ages 18 to 27) showed the highest opinion of vending, and thus has been identified as the most likely receptive target for a consumer-focused initiative promoting vending.

Candidates for this position must possess a bachelor's degree with a major in marketing, public relations and/or communications and a minor in journalism or English. Seven to 10 years experience with an agency or corporate company in marketing, communications and public relations function is required, and two years industry experience in a related field, or association background in a marketing capacity is a plus.

Candidates should also possess superior written and oral communication skills and be creative and innovative.
