National Automatic Merchandising Association Will Offer Supervisor Development Program Prior To OneShow In April In Chicago

The National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA) will be offering its Supervisor Development Program prior to the NAMA OneShow in Chicago April 25-27, NAMA Senior Director of Education and Trade Shows LyNae Schleyer NCE, CMP announced.

The NAMA OneShow will be held at Chicago's McCormick Place North Wednesday to Friday, April 27 to 29, 2011.

"This year's program has been redesigned and updated to meet the needs of today's industry," said Schleyer in a prepared statement. "Sessions have been extended and a new project management workshop has been added based on the needs of today's Supervisor," she added. "In addition, not only is this important for anyone in management but it is important to any company wanting to develop their people to enable them to help move the company forward or something like that. Because really this is a benefit to the companies as much as the individuals and the companies are paying the freight so we have to convince them it is a good investment."

The program is an interactive one for new supervisors, entry-level managers, mid-level supervisors and even non-supervisors who are accountable in their businesses. It is designed to provide the necessary tools and training they need to succeed in their positions as well as help their businesses grow.

"This training program has always been very popular with our members and now boasts 300 graduates. Program graduates consistently say they come away with a wealth of knowledge that enables them to become effective team leaders," said Schleyer in a prepared statement.

One graduate, Wendy King of Burdette Beckmann, Inc., the Hollywood, Fla.-based product brokerage, said "the program was awesome. The speakers were fun and energetic." Another, Jeremy Cauble of Gallins Foods said "One of the best learning experiences of my career."

Topics covered include the new successful project management and the following redesigned ones – personal leadership development, general management decision-making, effective communication and time management, coaching for top performance, ACE problem solving for managers, human resources 101, personal selling skills and handling customer relationships and complaints Many sessions are interactive and mini cases will be incorporated into class discussion.

Added Schleyer, "Not only is this program valuable for anyone in management, but it is also important to any company that wants to develop their people so they can better help the company grow and prosper. At the end of the day it's a win-win situation because the employees have a better knowledge base and skill set and can then perform more effectively for their company."

Cost for the program has not increased from last year. Special member pricing is $1,299 for the first seat and $999 for each additional registrant from the same NAMA member company. The fee includes sessions led by industry leaders, several meals and breaks, learning materials and a graduation certificate. Registration is now open at www.namaoneshow.org/attend/education. Program registrants will receive a 50 percent discount on their OneShow registration fee.

Concluded Schleyer, "This program is vital for anyone in a management position who expects to advance professionally. You don't want to miss this opportunity to receive quality training, priced reasonably."
