Dan Holt, president of the Tennessee Automatic Merchandising Association (TAMA), announced the group will convene in Nashville, Tenn. for its annual legislative day. Beginning Feb. 19 at 8 a.m., more than 20 TAMA members will meet with state lawmakers and their staffs for the day-long event at the state capitol.
“One of our main goals is to promote TAMA’s longstanding commitment to preserving consumer choice by providing customers with a variety of traditional snacks and beverages as well as healthy items to suit their lifestyles,” Holt said in a prepared statement.
“TAMA has been at the forefront of the nutrition solution in the vending channel in Tennessee. Specifically, we provide consumers from all walks of life, including families and children, with the important nutrition information they need to make the right food choices," said Holt. “We are encouraging as many of our members as possible to participate to educate our elected officials,” he continued.
“As business owners, we need to communicate the positive impact that vending has on local economies throughout the state. TAMA’s legislative day is an important part of the process to build relationships with our elected officials so that we can provide them the information they need to make the most informed decision regarding legislation that can impact our industry.”
This year’s event is honoring Scott Young, a TAMA operator who passed away in December 2012. Young, also a member of the Tennessee Business Enterprise, is being recognized for his service to TAMA and his work with the state legislature on behalf of all operators.
