Takis reformulates snack portfolio with no artificial colors
Snackmaker Takis is removing artificial colors and tert-butylhydroquinone (TBHQ) from its entire product portfolio by the end of 2026.
The phased rollout is already underway and includes some of the brand’s most popular products, including Takis Fuego and Takis Blue Heat. More recent products such as Takis Pix, Xtreme Lime and Jalapeño were developed without artificial colors from the start, according to the company. The reformulated items include a “No Artificial Colors Added” label on the package. During the transition, both original and updated versions may be available.
Sandra Kirkpatrick, senior director of marketing at Barcel USA, said removing artificial colors and TBHQ reflects changing consumer expectations while preserving the product’s signature intensity. The announcement follows Grupo Bimbo’s commitment to remove artificial colors from its global product portfolio by the end of 2026.
