A spokesman for the Coca-Cola Co. questioned a news report regarding the application of a new software-driven fountain beverage dispensing system in a Coca-Cola vending machine. VendingMarketWatch asked the Coca Cola Co. spokesman about the report posted on the Website of KING 5 TV in Seattle, Wash. The Coca Cola spokesman said he was unaware of any plans to use the software-driven fountain beverage dispensing system in a vending machine.
The public relations agency hired by the technology provider, BSquare, a Bellevue, Wash., also advised VendingMarketWatch they were unaware of any application of this technology in a vending machine.
The Coca-Cola Freestyle(TM) is the first software-driven fountain dispenser from the Coca-Cola Co. Restaurant chains throughout the country are testing the Freestyle in stores providing users with more than 140 branded beverage selections from one machine.
Editor's Insight: The Freestyle software-driven system has been developed for the restaurant industry, not the vending industry, according to the public relations agency that is handling the news about this technology.
The Freestyle system does feature an interactive touchscreen, similar to that of an interactive Coca-Cola vending machine developed by Samsung that was displayed at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas earlier this year. 07-21-09 by Elliot Maras
