Crane Co.’s Glenn Butler Defends Pre-Kitting In The Warehouse

Feb. 1, 2010
Glenn Butler, vice president and chief technology officer of Crane Merchandising Systems, claims pre-kitting routes in the warehouse will allow a vending operator to reduce 25 percent of his routes. Butler defends pre-kitting in response to a podcast that aired 12/17/09 in which a vending operator claimed technology providers have not specified the costs needed. Butler claimed he outlined the costs in an April 2009 article in Automatic Merchandiser Magazine. He claims one warehouse packer can handle the pre-kitting for four to six routes, and these costs are fully modeled in the ROI spreadsheet he presented in his April 2009 article in Automatic Merchandiser.
