Crane Co.’s Glenn Butler Defends Tracking Item Level Sales

Feb. 8, 2010
Glenn Butler, vice president and chief technology officer of Crane Merchandising Systems, claims it is possible for drivers to accurately track item level sales, which is necessary in order to successfully pre-kit routes in the warehouse. Butler defends tracking item level sales in response to a podcast aired Jan. 4, 2010 in which a vending operator claimed inaccurate product tracking presents a major problem for operators who want to pre-kit routes in the warehouse. Butler claims drivers quickly learn that “garbage in equals garbage out” and that inaccurate data slows them down.
