Crane Co.’s Glenn Butler Claims Pre-Kitting Doesn’t Impede Route Drivers From Meeting Individual Customer Product Requests

Feb. 8, 2010
Glenn Butler, vice president and chief technology officer of Crane Merchandising Systems, claims route drivers can still meet individual location requests when the vending operator pre-kits routes in the warehouse. Butler defends pre-kitting in response to a podcast aired 12/23/09 when a vending operator questioned the driver’s ability to meet product requests on a pre-kitted route. Butler claims the driver could make a note of the change in his handheld so that the product can be ordered for the next service. Butler says operators can have methods to put products in the machine and get them at the account at the next service, even if the route driver never carried that product on his truck before.
