Cliff Fisher, sales manager of vending management solutions at MEI, claims capturing individual item level sales is worth the investment in vending operations. On Dec. 22, 2009, an operator questioned benefits of tracking individual location sales. Fisher says measuring transaction detail using DEX provides a better foundation for managing product selection. Leaving the choices up to route driver will not ensure the same level of accuracy. Fisher DEX data is more reliable and allows accurate sales forecasting. He says there is 11- to 12-month payback on investment in hardware and software.
