Eight O’Clock® Coffee Retains Current Packaging Due To Consumer Reaction to Packaging Makeover Sweepstakes

Eight O’Clock Coffee decided to mark its 150th anniversary this year by updating its packaging – and asked America to help choose their new look via the Packaging Makeover Sweepstakes. People from all over the country cast their votes for one of two new packaging designs via CoffeeMakeover.com (where they were entered to win a year’s worth of free groceries – a $5,000 prize). The results? Voters did more than gravitate toward one of the two proposed new looks – they also communicated a desire for consistency during today’s chaotic times. Therefore, at this time, Eight O’Clock Coffee has decided to retain their current look.

“With Americans facing such uncertain times, it’s important to know that they can count on the rich, smooth taste of Eight O’Clock Coffee that generations of coffee lovers have known and loved for 150 years,” commented Alisa Jacoby, senior brand manager at Eight O’Clock Coffee. “And that won’t change, no matter which packaging direction we go in.”

While the coffee company won’t be changing its packaging at this time, the “winning” design can be seen at CoffeeMakeover.com.  During the six-week sweepstakes, entrants won 160 instant-win prizes, and the winner of the Grand Prize will be alerted this week.
