Tom Britten, a vending consultant who authors a blog on growth, profitability and acquisitions for VendingMarketWatch blog, addressed the issue of “garage vendors” recently. He notes that an article in the Fort Meyers, Fla. News-Press described garage vendors as the unlicensed, uninsured, unaffiliated “bane” of the vending machine industry. Britten takes issue with the characterization, saying that to portray these hard working men and women in this way is unfair and in the vast majority of instances entirely unwarranted. Editor’s Insight: Congratulations to Tom Britten for speaking up for our industry. He got the reporter to respond with a clarification that she did not intend to demean small vending operators. In the future, she will hopefully choose her words more carefully.
The industry needs more people like Tom Britten who take the time to speak out in defense of our industry. 08-27-08 by Elliot Maras
