Gloria Cosby, brand director for Cygnus Business Media whose publishing group includes Automatic Merchandiser Magazine, was named among the “11 Women To Watch” by Min's B2B, a publishing industry magazine. Min's B2B highlighted 11 women in business-to-business (b2b) media companies who are finding innovative solutions to growing their products in a hostile economic climate.
Cosby was quoted as saying that the key to appealing to advertisers is by providing good, quality content in all of a brand's products. That's what she focused on last year when she headed Cygnus Business Media's project to update and enhance 25 of the company's 52 Websites . The goal was for the publisher of each magazine to take ownership of their own book's Website. Further, print sales staff members are now selling integrated programs. Thanks to these efforts, many of the sites have doubled and tripled their interactive sales.
The article noted Cosby got her start in b2b media in the late 1980s at Advanstar, where she started in sales. A mere 18 months into her job she was asked to be publisher of Automatic Merchandiser — at the age of 26.
