Aramark Joins Non-Profit Organization In Volunteering To Improve Community Centers And Environment

City Year, a non-profit organization, has announced that Aramark, a world leader in professional services, has made a multi-faceted commitment to the organization involving employee volunteerism, financial resources, and leadership support to advance the goals of City Year.

This national partnership showcases the shared commitment of Aramark and City Year, which engages young people in full-time community service, to increase the positive role community centers play in the lives of local families and children. Over the next several years, thousands of Aramark employees will volunteer their time and expertise to help improve community center facilities and environments nationwide.

As part of the partnership kickoff, this week in Philadelphia, Aramark 's global headquarters, over 100 Aramark employees will work with City Year Corps members to enhance the physical environment of the Frankford Group Ministries, a community based organization that provides human services to residents of Frankford, a neighborhood in northeast Philadelphia. Together they will update kitchens, build shelves, paint murals and sort clothing for donations to local families.

"We are thrilled to have a strong partner like City Year as we undertake this important endeavor," said Andrew Kerin, executive vice president, Aramark Corp. and president, domestic food, hospitality and facilities, in a prepared statement. "Their deep expertise and unique approach to implementing community service projects pairs well with the diverse skills and energy of Aramark employees and we look forward to working together to enrich the lives of families and children in the communities we serve."

In addition, Kerin has joined the City Year board of trustees. From this position, Kerin and Aramark will provide resources to support City Year and its youth corps members.

Throughout the rest of the year, Aramark employees nationwide, in collaboration with City Year, plan to conduct 10 large-scale, hands-on volunteer events to support local community centers in cities including Boston, Mass., Chicago, Ill., Philadelphia, Pa., New York, N.Y. and Los Angeles, Calif.
