011 Mobile Introduces Automated Cell Phone Vending Machines at Las Vegas Airport


011 Mobile, a Las Vegas, Nevada-based mobile virtual network operator, is providing access to cellular products and services at the McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, according to TMCnet.com, a source of news for the communications and technology industries. Customers can use a touch screen vending system to select a cell phone that activates as it dispenses. As each 011 Mobile handset is customized with an international calling feature, customers gets the same rate for an international call as they would get from a landline.

Editor’s Insight: This site reported on 10-16-07 that Automated Vending Technologies Inc. was customizing its RAM 4000 vending machine to dispense pre-activated cell phones at airports throughout the U.S. and that the first installation would be McCarran Airport in Las Vegas.

While the full-line vending industry is only minimally involved in non-food applications such as pre-activated cell phone dispensers, these systems are highlighting the new technologies available in full-line machines.
