The National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA) is happy to announce that The History Channel’s Modern Marvels series will rebroadcast its program focusing on coin operated machinery, said NAMA spokesperson, Jackie Clark. The program is scheduled to air Thursday, Nov. 20 at 8 p.m. on The History Channel.
Originally broadcast on July 24, this entertaining and informative program highlights all aspects of the vending industry from vending history to the mechanics of gumball and coffee machines to production of the machines themselves and new vending technology.
“The Modern Marvels show presented our industry in the most professional light that any TV show has done, probably ever,” wrote Gary Thom, publisher of Automatic Merchandiser in the August, 2008 edition of the magazine. “The millions of consumers who saw this show learned vending is an evolving and very specialized profession.”
“Modern Marvels: Coin Operated is a fun program for consumers of all ages,” said NAMA’s Jackie Clark. “It captures an integral part of American culture while it educates and entertains. Check your local listings to find The History Channel in your region and then be sure to tune in tomorrow night.”
Editor’s Insight: Anyone who missed the first airing of this show in July now have a chance to see it again. This is an outstanding educational segment on the coin-operated industries, most of which focuses on the history and technological developments in full line vending.
Vending operators know that consumers in general continue to feel that vending machines are not the most respected retail formats, as evidenced by the resistance to vending price increases. TV shows such as this go a long way to educating the public about our industry. 11-19-08 by Elliot Maras
