McDonalds extensive investment is insignificant when compared to the investment made by the McDonalds franchisee. The risk on the corporate side is minimal, if it fails the corp. will take a special charge and move on. The franchisees will be stuck with millions in personal debt. there is nothing "bold" about a franchisor forcing more debt on franchisees.
