New Standards In Cube Farms Mean Increased Workplace Amenities

May 18, 2018

Personal workspaces may soon be a thing of the past as corporate execs say they plan to switch to unassigned worker seating, according to the Chicago Tribune. According to a report by commercial real estate firm CBRE, employers are shifting from traditional individual offices to open work environments to cut costs, and supposedly increase productivity and collaboration among workers. Although only 50 percent of companies said their primary reason for the office change is to reduce costs, and only 20 percent said it was to promote innovation, not all trends point towards Orwell's utilitarianism.

Due to the change in environment, offices are more focused than ever on keeping their workers happy, and plan to increase workplace amenities. This includes full-service eats and drinks features, custom coffee services, employee showers, bike racks for commuters, green space, game rooms and on-site health care.

There are more options than ever to maximize the office breakroom. Employers are cutting costs by seeking better space utilization, and are looking to compensate by offering generous amenities in all sorts of forms.
