Capital Roots, a Troy, NY-based organization which tries to provide fresh food to underserved communities, has launched a new Smart Vending program with help from local vending companies, according to Times Union. Capital Roots is working with family vending companies, including New Leaf Group and HealthyMe Living, in an effort to place vending machines with healthier snacks in several Albany public libraries. The healthy items include granola bars, nuts, popcorn, chips, juice and water, all under $3.
