Pepsi Fights Soda Tax With Smaller Bottles

March 22, 2017

Pepsi is reportedly pulling 2-liters and 12-packs of its products from Philadelphia grocery store shelves as a result of the city's new tax on sweetened drinks. Pepsi says it wants to offer products and sizes that "working families can better afford." The Philadelphia tax imposes a 1.5-cent-per-ounce tax on sweetened and diet beverages at the distributor level. The tax amounts to $1.44 on a six-pack of 16-ounce bottles when fully passed onto the consumer.
