(CHICAGO) February 7, 2017 – The Maryland/DC Vending Council hosted its newly-revived legislative day Thursday, February 2nd at the Maryland State House in Annapolis, Maryland.
The MD/DC council’s board of directors recently hired a state lobbyist to assist with advocacy efforts and reinstated a state lobby day, which hadn’t been held in 10 years.
Twenty state council members met at the State Delegate Building, where they attended meetings with more than 20 state senators and delegates. They also delivered sample bags highlighting FitPick and better-for-you products sold in the channel. The logistics of the lobby day were planned through the NAMA mobile app, which kept the attendees on schedule.
“I am thrilled with the response that we received from our membership to participate in our revived lobby day,” said Maryland/DC Council President Scott Meskin. “Attendees educated elected officials on the impact of the industry on the State of Maryland and in their individual districts,” he continued.
“The response from our legislators was positive across the political spectrum” said Steve Boucher, a state council board member. “We will continue to educate lawmakers on the successes of our industry in providing nutrition information and choice to consumers.” he concluded.
Another board member, Amy Bartholomee stated “Our lobby day was very successful. We will be expanding this year-over-year to continue to promote and protect the industry.”
