Commodities: Bacon Prices Drop, Egg Prices Expected To Increase

May 22, 2015

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has reported that bacon is 25 percent cheaper than one year ago, according to ABC News. Meanwhile, egg prices are expected to increase due to the bird flu outbreak, which is affecting a large portion of hens in the U.S, specifically throughout the Midwest. The USDA reports that 87 percent of birds with the flu are laying hens. The price of condiments such as mayonnaise and salad dressing could increase as well.
