Los Angeles, CA, will join the ranks of cities across the U.S. raising its minimum wage. In a 14-to-1 vote the Los Angeles City Council approved a hike in the city’s minimum wage to $15 per hour by 2020, NPR reports.

An increase in the city’s minimum wage will occur each year beginning July 1, 2016 with a raise to $10.50 per hour and ending with a $15.00 per hour minimum wage on July 1, 2020. Businesses with 25 or fewer employees have an additional year to comply with the change, the LA Times reports.
