Up Close: A Look At 2015 Allied Member Of The Year Paul Schindelar

(CHICAGO) April 17, 2015 – Paul Schindelar, a 30-year refreshment services industry veteran, was recently announced as NAMA’s Allied Member of the Year as part of the association’s 2015 Industry Awards. Schindelar will be presented with his award on April 22 at the 2014 NAMA OneShow in Las Vegas.

The NAMA Allied Member of the Year award recognizes an individual who has exhibited the highest level of integrity, dedication, and leadership in the refreshment services industry.  The recipient of this award has provided innovative products and services and demonstrated responsiveness to the needs of the industry through education and best practices, helping operators to grow their businesses.

Paul has held executive sales and director roles at leading Fortune 500 companies including Nabisco, Kraft Foods and most recently, Mondelēz International, Inc., where he served as Vice President of Sales until his retirement from the company in December 2014.

Paul’s career has spanned multiple industry channels. He started out working with beverage and foodservice distributors, eventually moving into roles in the vending and coffee service channel with Nabisco, where his team successfully launched Snackwell’s as a vend and office coffee service product. Paul also owned and operated Barista Brava Coffee, a coffee bar in Baltimore, before returning to executive roles at a number of leading manufacturers. A supporter of innovation, Paul helped develop and promote the interactive Diji Touch vending machine for Kraft, which helped increase and enhance awareness of the refreshment services industry as part of NAMA’s Gratitude Tour.

A member of NAMA’s Board of Directors from 2007-2014, Paul actively advocated for the industry through his participation in NAMA’s annual Public Policy Conference. He is a NAMA Certified Executive (NCE) and has completed NAMA’s Quality Coffee Certificate Program and attended NAMA’s Coffee Origin Tour in Costa Rica. 

Paul and his Mondelëz team were recognized by Automatic Merchandiser as one of their 2014 Team Pros to Know. Currently, Paul consults with Back to Nature and is also involved with The Abilities Network, Meals on Wheels and Ronald McDonald House. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland and sits on the President's Patient Council at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Paul resides in Baltimore.

The NAMA Industry Awards are presented to individuals that best exemplify support of the refreshment services industry through a history of service and leadership throughout the industry and in their own communities. They must be innovative, possess a willingness to expand conventional practices and follow ethical business standards in accordance with the NAMA code of ethics.
