Vermont’s House Ways and Means Committee has approved a tax package that includes a half-cent per ounce tax on sweetened beverages, Valley News reports. The committee expanded the bill to include artificially sweetened diet drinks and exempt milk and 100 percent juices. The source reports that the tax will raise $17.6 million in a full year.
