Study: U.S. Consumers Want To Pay For Small Ticket Items With Mobile

Feb. 19, 2015

A Wakefield Research study of 1,000 U.S. adults found that over half felt it was important for more retailers to offer technology that allowed payment via smartphone, according to an article in BizReport. That number rose to 64 percent for users under age 40.

Members of the vending industry may be interested in the fact that most respondents (84 percent) said they would use their device to pay for less expensive items such as a cup of coffee or an article of clothing, over a larger purchase.

While consumers want the ability to pay with mobile devices, the article also revealed that half of the surveyed consumers remain uneducated about the types of mobile applications available which allow payment and the related technology.
