UK Vending Show AVEX Launches Wellbeing Zone For Its 2015 Event

Jan. 20, 2015

AVEX 2015, a vending industry’s principal event, has launched a pioneering health and wellbeing zone aimed at promoting the healthier options available in vending.

For the first time in the event’s history, visitors to AVEX 2015 will have access to a multitude of businesses that have developed innovative, healthy solutions that meet the needs of an evolving consumer marketplace.

Furthermore, the serenity of the specially designed area will provide the perfect backdrop for learning, with educational seminars and expert opinions on healthy vending all up for discussion.

Rosie Mills, AVEX 2015 show manager, says: “With so many companies now responding to the healthy vending agenda, both in the UK and globally, and the obesity crisis making the headlines daily, it is clear that demand in this area has never been higher.

“We’re therefore extremely excited to be launching our new health and wellbeing zone, all aimed at showcasing the vast array of solutions available to those who want to offer healthier alternatives in their vending machines.

“Our range of seminars and silent educational video will also allow guests to debate and learn more about the healthier vending market and the opportunities it presents.”

The unveiling of the health and wellbeing zone follows the launch of a major healthy vending campaign recently by AVEX 2015 organisers, the Automatic Vending Association (AVA), which aims to communicate the message that vending can be part of the solution to the UK’s obesity epidemic, while helping to improve public perceptions of the industry.

Additionally, representatives from across the food, health and vending sectors joined an industry panel in December to select the winners of this year’s Culinary Product Development Challenge, ran by the AVA and University College Birmingham.

Working in teams, final year Culinary Arts Management students were tasked with developing a delicious new range of vending products that will meet calls for healthier vending alternatives.

Winners, Goosefoot, developed two quinoa bars after spotting a gap in the vending market for a healthy snack bar that was free from allergens and artificial ingredients.

With sporting icon, Kriss Akabusi, named as the event’s keynote speaker, and only 30 per cent of stand space now remaining, AVEX 2015 is already proving to be the most successful event in its history.
