Vending Technologies Program Showcased At Philadelphia Career And Technical Education Expo

On Saturday Nov. 22, 2014, the School District of Philadelphia held its annual Career and Technical Education (CTE) Expo. The event showcases the numerous CTE programs taught throughout the district, including the only Vending Technologies Program in the country.

The event was open to all eighth grade students in the district and their parents. Several hundred students and their parents attended the 2014 event.

Spotlight vending

This year Davis Haines, the instructor of the program, showed a VE Connect Snack Machine. The vending machine shows some of the latest technologies in the vending industry, including credit card acceptance, telemetry and a digital display.

The machine was provided by Tom Paine and his staff at Canteen, Phoenixville, PA, who set-up and delivered the machine for the expo.   

Product for the expo was donated by Lou Pace, Quality Brokerage in Turnersville, NJ, who represents Mars North America and Keystone Snack Foods and Mike DeMitri, Demitri and Associates in Washington Township, NJ, who represents Kellogg’s, Snyder’s and Kar’s.
